Message from the Dean

Welcome to the School of The Built Environment

The School is engaged in training and research that leads to the generation of high level personnel for; public and private sector, international community and various professional organizations.  The School trains professionals in the disciplines of; Architecture, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Valuation and Property Management, Planning, Real Estate, Housing Administration and Urban Management.  Although these courses are diverse, they embrace a common theme of the man-made physical environment and the exercise of human control over it.
The School also houses the Centre for Urban Research and Innovations which is facilitated with funding from The Rockefeller Foundation.  The mandate of this centre is to undertake research on thematic areas and issues on public policy and collaborative urban planning processes.
The School is home to the Africa Habitat Review Journal which is published on a biannual basis.  This Journal enables both academicians and non-academicians in the built environment to publish, lobby and influence policy formulation.  The journal links theory and practice in the built environment in Kenya, regionally and globally.
