Faculty of Built Environment and Design Engages Its Alumni

The University of Nairobi is engaging key alumni across its faculties as part of a strategic initiative to strengthen alumni participation in the University’s development and fundraising efforts, with a particular focus on the renovation and improvement of student hostels.

Many of the University’s student hostels are in need of significant rehabilitation. The initiative seeks to mobilise support from alumni and other stakeholders to help transform these facilities into safe, dignified and conducive living spaces that enhance the student experience.

As part of this initiative, the University convened a breakfast meeting with selected alumni from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design on 12 September 2026. The meeting provided an opportunity for the University to reconnect with its alumni, share its development priorities and explore opportunities for meaningful alumni engagement and support.

A key focus of the meeting was preparations for the upcoming Alumni Homecoming and Goat-Eating Ceremony, scheduled to take place at the Faculty of Built Environment and Design in October 2026. The event is expected to bring together alumni, students, faculty members, University leadership and other stakeholders for a day of networking, reflection and celebration, while also providing an opportunity to rally support for the University’s development agenda.

The breakfast meeting provided a platform for alumni to contribute ideas, strengthen partnerships and explore innovative ways of supporting the University’s fundraising objectives. Through such engagements, the University aims to harness the expertise, goodwill and resources of its alumni community to address pressing institutional needs and contribute to the continued transformation of the University.

The initiative underscores the University of Nairobi’s commitment to building a strong and mutually beneficial relationship with its alumni, recognising them as valued partners in advancing the institution’s mission and shaping its future.
