graduation 2022 68th Graduation Certificate Collection Schedule

All Graduates of the 68th Congregation for the conferment of Degrees and award of Diplomas held on December 16, 2022, are requested to collect their certificates from the University of Nairobi Central Examinations Centre, Chiromo Campus starting from Monday, January 16, 2023, to Friday, February 10, 2023. 

1) Masters Degrees: Monday, January 16, 2023 – Friday, January 20, 2023

2) Bachelor’s Degrees: Monday, January 23, 2023 - Friday January 27, 2023

3) Diplomas: Monday, February 6, 2023 - Friday February 10, 2023

The following will be required before the collection of the certificates:

  • Original National Identity Card (ID card)/Passport.
  • Gown Clearance form
  • Convocation fee receipt for Kshs. 1,000.00
  • Certificates should be collected by Friday, February 10, 2023. Any certificate not collected by this date will be liable to a storage charge of Kshs. 1,000/= per year or part thereof. For the avoidance of doubt, any part of a year after the expiry of the collection date shall attract a storage charge of Kshs. 1,000/=.

Tutorial Fellows who have met the senate criteria for promotion to lecturer position are requested to send in their application for consideration to the Dean, through their respective Chairpersons of Departments on or before Thursday 10th March 2022. 

Visual DEsign Conference Visual Design Conference 2022

The Department of Art and Design will host the Visual Design Conference on Thursday 10th and Friday 11th February 2021 at the University of Nairobi Towers Room 405.

The conference brings together design students, researchers, employers, professionals, policymakers and stakeholders to reflect on the theme: Evolution of Afrikan Visual Design in the Digital World. Under three broad themes of Virtual Reality, the Future and the Power to Influence. These three broad themes point at a need to anchor Afrikan art and design on our strong cultural repository. As our collective collaboration is critical for the growth of the cultural arts, design, and creative sector in general. 

Attendees will include, and are not limited to:

a) Majority will be undergraduate and graduate students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design (and the larger University of Nairobi)

b) Authors who submitted abstracts for the conference, mainly from academia and professionals across Africa

c) Design professionals and those who may work in the design/creative/ digital/ built environment industry (Kenya/Nigeria)

d) Invited speakers and government officials in various ministries

d) Vice-Chancellor, Deputy VC, Dean and members of the UoN faculty/ lecturers 

 

DESIGN OF UNIVERSITY ATTIRE AND WARES COMPETITION

Design of University Attire and Wares Competition

The University of Nairobi is a prime university offering quality education and training. The University has diverse flagship programs that produce graduates for the development of this nation.

The University has been in existence for the last 50 years and is in the process of branding itself, in order to remain relevant, vibrant and sustainable in the coming decades. As part of the branding, the University is developing unique branding items including the University dress and wares, the quality of attire and wares must reflect the mission, vision and core values of the University.

The University has developed this design brief in response to achieving this goal. The development of brand items is also in line to the Presidential directive that all ministries, departments and agencies promote local textile technology by requiring staff to wear African attire, made out of locally manufactured fabrics on selected days.

The University is thus inviting the students and staff to participate in a design contest.

General Considerations

  1. Creation of a detailed University attire and wares in two categories:
  1. Clothes
  2. Wares
  1. Ensure inclusive and participatory process in selecting the best attire designed by University Community
  2. Encourage use of local textile and fashion to boost the national agenda of Buy Kenya Build Kenya.
  3. Quality design that reflects the University’s world class status

Submission

  • Entries should come in form of sketches, drawings, paintings and images with technical details.

  • A 3 Size paper

The University of Nairobi wishes to inform all students who qualified for the award of various degrees and diplomas at the end of last academic year (2020/2021) and members of the public, that the 65th Graduation Ceremony will be held VIRTUALLY on Friday, September 24, 2021 commencing at 8.00 a.m. at the Great Court. The event will be streamed live through the following links; www.uonbi.ac.ke.ke/livestream and facebook.com/uonbi.ac.ke.

CLEARANCE OF FEES AND ORDER OF NAMES:
ONLY those who will have satisfied all the academic requirements, will have completed paying all the fees due to the University; and been cleared of any disciplinary cases by Tuesday August 24, 2021 will be allowed to graduate. ALL graduands are advised to confirm the order of their names with their respective Executive Deans.

GRADUATION/CONVOCATION FEE
Each graduand will be required to obtain a clearance certificate from the relevant Faculty Registrar upon clearance with the respective Department, Library, Halls of Residence, Games Department, Finance and pay a compulsory
