The Department of Urban and Regional Planning will host a Research Seminar on Livable streets.
Speaker: Dr. Bruce Appleyard, Associate Professor of City Planning and Urban Design at San Diego State University (SDSU)
Topic: A discussion of the conflict power and promise of our streets in light of their livability, health, humanity, and as the hearts of our cities.
Synopsis:
Cities are faced with multiple problems in our streets: traffic violence, pollution, placelessness, and neverending congestion, to name a few. This presentation provides thoughtful, comprehensive, and practical strategies and tools for redesigning and enhancing streets, and street networks so they can support community livability, health, and the humanity of our streets and cities.
