University of Nairobi Celebrates 70th Graduation Ceremony

Over 5,700 graduates, including 132 from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design, culminated their academic journeys at the University of Nairobi's 70th graduation ceremony, held on December 15th at the Chancellors' Court.

Hon. Ezekiel Machogu, Cabinet Secretary of Education, graced the ceremony as the Chief Guest. In his address, he lauded the University of Nairobi and other institutions of higher learning for nurturing conducive learning environments, acknowledging the financial challenges faced. "The Ministry will progressively address financial concerns to ensure unimpeded access to quality education," he assured.

The degrees were conferred by Prof. Amukowa Anangwe, Ag. Chancellor, who reminded the graduates of their pivotal role as problem solvers in society. "Go out and address the socio-economic issues that plague our nation," he urged. Emphasizing the importance of discipline, resilience, and patience, he encouraged them to pave the way for a bright future for themselves and their country.

Prof. Stephen Kiama, Vice Chancellor, expressed his pride in the graduating class, commending their dedication and perseverance throughout their academic journey. He highlighted the diverse degrees awarded, underscoring UoN's commitment to various disciplines.

The Faculty of Built Environment and Design takes special pride in celebrating the success of the 132 graduates. These individuals have diligently honed their skills, poised to become future leaders in various built environment fields. Their achievement aligns with the graduation theme, "Transforming the Society by Producing Resilient Graduates," as these graduates are well-equipped to tackle challenges and contribute to the development of Kenya and beyond.
