Announcement: Dean-Elect, Faculty of Built Environment and Design

We are pleased to announce that Prof. Owiti Abiero K’Akumu has been elected as the Dean of the Faculty of Built Environment and Design. Prof. K’Akumu brings a distinguished academic and research career grounded in Real Estate Development, with a specialized focus on Housing Quality and Urban Infrastructure. His expertise spans key areas such as building cost indicators, housing policy, land use practices, and the political economy of urban development. Beginning his journey at the University of Nairobi’s Housing and Building Research Institute (HABRI), Prof. K’Akumu has continued to shape national housing discourse through major contributions to Kenya's 2009 and 2019 Population and Housing Census reports. His scholarly work critically examines the sustainability and inclusivity of urban development, especially within the Global South. We look forward to his visionary leadership as he steers the Faculty toward greater academic and professional excellence.
