The University of Nairobi held the Annual Mental Health Awareness Commemoration on Friday, 7th October 2022, at the Chancellor’s Court. The event, held under the theme “making mental health and well-being for all a global priority,” featured a free medical camp open to the public. The students, staff, and public members flocked to the event and received free health services, including medical tests and consultations.
A team of experts from the University Healthcare Services (UHS), in collaboration with partners such as Aga Khan University Hospital, PolkaDots rehab, Affinity Rehabilitation Centre, Blessed Medical Centre, CHG, The Retreat Rehab, Oasis Healthy Specialty RV Hospital, LVCT, Marie Stopes, M.P Shah Hospital, The Nairobi Women’s Hospital, RADA app, and O3Plus joined hand to offer health screening for various cancers such as breast and cervical. The team also conducted VCT, blood sugar and blood pressure testing, eye examination, cardiovascular evaluation, alcohol and drug abuse awareness, reproductive health awareness, and counseling.
The University of Nairobi prides itself in advancing public health through involvement in activities and programs that advance awareness creation and health services provision.
