University of Nairobi and New York University Urban Lab to Collaborate on Real Estate Studies

The Department of Real Estate, Construction Management and Quantity Surveying (RECMQS) is moving to formalize a new partnership with New York University (NYU).

On Wednesday, January 7, faculty members led by Chairman Arch. Peter Njeru met with Prof. Kwatinetz, Director of the NYU Urban Lab, at the Dean’s Office to discuss a collaboration focused on urban policy and real estate research.

As Kenya’s cities grow faster and more complex, the need for skilled urban planners, architects and construction professionals has never been greater. That reality was underscored on January 9, 2026, when 20 students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design at the University of Nairobi received the Future Urban Builders Scholarship.

Faculty Presents 61 Graduands at 74th UoN Graduation Ceremony

The University of Nairobi held its 74th graduation ceremony on Thursday, 11th December 2025 at the Chancellor’s Court. The event saw the Faculty of Built Environment and Design present a strong cohort of professionals to the job market.

Faculty Dean Prof. Owiti K’Akumu presented the graduands to receive their degrees. The faculty awarded 1 PhD, 52 Bachelor’s degrees and 8 Master’s degrees.
