I am delighted to welcome you to the prestigious Faculty of Built Environment and Design of the University of Nairobi on behalf of the faculty, students, and alumni. Ours is the premier institution in the training of built environment and design professionals in East Africa.

There are two environments: natural and built. Within the latter, there are several disciplines such as the earth sciences, agriculture, forestry, and fisheries. Others involve the study of both natural and built environments such as geography. Built environment refers to manmade environments where the design, construction and use of buildings is the focal feature of study. It majorly involves disciplines based on the physical production of development space and the economics of the processes and products.

The faculty is located in FADD Building sandwiched between Mamlaka and Statehouse roads where we train students in the following disciplines: Architecture, Construction Management, Interior Design, Product Design, Quantity Surveying, Real Estate, and Urban and Regional Planning at Bachelor, Master and Doctorate levels.

As a faculty, we are proud of our national and international reputation in producing high calibre professionals for the construction industry. In the academic field, being the first in the region, other schools of built environment in East Africa have been founded or run by our alumni. Our work ethic embraces the promotion of effective training and education, impactful research and academic excellence in the built environment and related fields.
