The University of Nairobi held the 67th graduation on 23rd September 2022 in Taifa Hall, Main Campus. The event saw 3,553 graduands conferred with different degrees and awarded various diplomas.
The Faculty of Built Environment and Design produced this year’s Valedictorian Ms. Cynthia Wahito from the Department of Architecture. In addition, 31 students from the Faculty graduated with 1st class honors, this exceptional performance has seen the Faculty stamp its authority as one of the best Faculties in the University. Overall, the Faculty produced a total of 339 graduates, of which 38 graduated with Masters Degrees, 358 with Bachelors Degrees, and 3 graduated with Diplomas.
Speaking at the event, the Chancellor, Dr. Vijoo Rattansi, OGW, congratulated the graduands and the entire fraternity of the University for working hard to produce some of the best brains in the region and the world. The Chancellor also extended warm congratulations to the president of the Republic of Kenya and alumnus of the University, His Excellency Dr. William Samoei Ruto. She wished the graduands all the best in life and encouraged them to keep the flame of the University burning in every corner of the world.
The Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Stephen Kiama expressed his satisfaction with the efforts put by the entire staff of the University and the student to keep the institution shining in the region and the world and in keeping with its mission of being “a world-class university committed to scholarly excellence.”In particular, the Vice-Chancellor applauded the Ph.D. class for producing quality work whose relevance to contemporary issues is unquestionable. Further, the chancellor appreciated the role played by collaborators and partners in advancing the mission and vision of the University. He invited them to increase their support for academic programs by facilitating cutting-edge research in priority development areas to steer growth and development.
The Chairman of the University of Nairobi Alumni Association Mr. Isaac Awuondo also extended the Association’s hearty congratulations to the graduating class for well-deserved degrees and diplomas. He did not fail to recognize the excellent work done by different university alumni in various fields and keep the University’s reputation beyond reproach.
