The student counselor Dr. Ngigi G.N held a training session on soft skills for students at ADD According to, the phrase ‘soft skills’ is often used to describe the skills which characterise relationships with other people, or which are about how you approach life and work.

Others phrases that are often used for these types of skills include: ‘people skills’, ‘interpersonal skills’, ‘social skills’ or ‘transferable skills’

In a 2008 survey of more than 2,000 businesses in the state of Washington, employers said entry-level workers in a variety of professions were lacking in several areas, including problem solving, conflict resolution and critical observation. (

The training was aimed at teaching the students the importance of soft skills which are usually not taught in schools.

The training which was done by the Fr. Kaigua Peter highlighted different skills such as communication skills, leadership, resilience and adaptability, creativity, love, cleanliness and punctuality among others.

The training stressed on the importance of learning soft skills because they define who you are or what you become in the society.
