Introduction and Aims of the Workshop:

The University of Nairobi will host the 8th Edition of the Nairobi Innovation Week from 8th to 10th May 2024 under the theme "Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem through Government-Industry-Academia Linkages for Sustainable Development."

The University of Nairobi held the annual Students' Recognition Ceremony on Friday, May 3rd, 2024, at Taifa Hall. This prestigious event acknowledges and rewards outstanding students who have consistently demonstrated exceptional performance in academics, research, leadership, and various extracurricular activities.

On Monday, April 15th, 2024, the Department of Art and Design at the University of Nairobi hosted a public lecture on the future of the fashion industry, focusing on sustainability and ethical practices. The event featured two distinguished speakers: Mr. Carlo D'Amario, CEO of the renowned Vivienne Westwood luxury fashion brand, and Mr. Simone Cipriani, Chief Technical Advisor of the Ethical Fashion Initiative.

In a recent collaboration between the Construction and Real Estate Student Association (CRESA) and the Department of Real Estate, Construction Management, and Quantity Survey (RECMQS), students from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design enjoyed a captivating lecture by Associate Professor Francois Viruly. With over two decades of experience as a renowned property economist from the University of Cape Town, Professor Viruly's insights into Urban Land Economics, Property Finance, and Portfolio Management added immense value to our community.

The University of Nairobi Student Association (UNSA) elections for the 2024-2025 academic year were held on March 27th, 2024. The elections saw Team Anchor emerge victorious in the Faculty of Built Environment and Design.

The Nairobi Innovation Week 2024 will be held on May 8-10, 2024. The theme for this year's NIW 2024 is, 'Strengthening the Innovation Ecosystem through Government- Industry-Academia-Community Linkages for Sustainable Development.

The University of Nairobi (UoN) has entered a collaborative partnership with the County Government of Taita Taveta County to establish sustainable spatial planning and urban development plans for the county. This collaboration was formalized during a courtesy visit to the Vice Chancellor by a distinguished delegation from Taita Taveta County Government, led by His Excellency Governor Andrew Mwadime, on Friday, February 2, 2024.

In a significant event marking a new era of ambition and collaboration, the University of Nairobi welcomed its newly appointed Chancellor, Prof. Patrick V. Verkooijen, on Wednesday, January 31st, 2024. The visit, centered on enhancing the university's global standing and fostering strategic partnerships, saw the Chancellor engaging with faculty and students of the Faculty of Built Environment and Design.

Over 5,700 graduates, including 132 from the Faculty of Built Environment and Design, culminated their academic journeys at the University of Nairobi's 70th graduation ceremony, held on December 15th at the Chancellors' Court.
